Dr. Frederik Banis is a researcher at the Hangzhou Gongshu District Gongda Future Institute of Technology, China, where he works on physically-grounded machine learning for adaptive biomedical sensing and autonomous experimental systems. He previously served as a postdoctoral researcher and scientific officer at ETH Zurich and NCCR Automation, working under Prof. John Lygeros and Prof. Gabriela Hug. He earned his PhD in system optimization and control from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 2020 with a thesis on efficient operation of energy grids. His research interests encompass model predictive control, stochastic optimization, system identification, and the integration of machine learning into engineering systems. He has published in journals including IET Renewable Power Generation and Electric Power Systems Research, and serves as a reviewer for the International Journal of Control, Automation, and Systems. He is also a guest researcher at the Hangzhou Institute of Technology, Xidian University.
