Prof. Javier Gozalvez is Full Professor and Director of the UWICORE laboratory at the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche (UMH), Spain. At UWICORE, he leads research activities in the areas of vehicular networks, connected and automated driving, beyond 5G networks, and industrial wireless networks. He served as President of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, Editor in Chief of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine, IEEE Distinguished Lecturer and IEEE Distinguished Speaker for the IEEE VTS. He is an expert evaluator for the European Commission and multiple national agencies, contributes to ETSI standards in V2X, and has a strong track record of collaborations with industry. He was recognized with a "Juan López de Peñalver" distinction award from the Spanish Royal Academy of Engineering, which recognizes the most notable Spanish engineers under 40 years of age. He received an electronics engineering degree from the Engineering School ENSEIRB (Bordeaux, France), and a PhD in mobile communications from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, U.K.
