Dr. Chen is currently a Senior Researcher in the Department of Clinical Microbiology, University Hospital (Rigshospitalet), Denmark; Chief Physician and Associate Professor of Clinical Microbiology, Odense University Hospital, Denmark; Senior Adviser of Shenzhen Keeperfamily Technology Co., Ltd.. He graduated from Guangxi Medical University with a Master of Medicine degree in 1982 and from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, with a PhD in Medical Microbiology and Immunology in 1995. His current research focuses on diagnosis of bacteria and viruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), fungi and parasites, and immunology. Antibacterial, antiparasitic, and anticancer effects of Chinese herbal extracts. In addition to clinical work, he has devoted many years to scientific research and teaching, and has published 90 academic papers. In 2017-18, he was appointed as a Specially-Appointed Foreign Expert by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. He is a member of the American Society for Microbiology and a core member of European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and Danish Society for Parasitology.
